. Goldfish is an ornamental fish derived from wild crucian carp, which belongs to Cyprinidae. Goldfish, like their relatives, are egg-laying fish. In fact, most of the fish we see here are oviparous. Even guppies, which directly give birth to small fry, are not really viviparous, but ovoviviparous. The development of small fry still depends on the nutrition of yolk, not on the nutrition of the mother, so it is called ovoviviparous.
When goldfish grow to a week old, their gonads gradually mature and begin to have reproductive capacity. After that, goldfish can reproduce about once a year. However, the best reproductive age of goldfish is 1-2 years old for males and 2-4 years old for females. Goldfish is sensitive to water temperature when breeding, and the most suitable water temperature for spawning and hatching of goldfish is 18-22 ℃. Moreover, the breeding time of goldfish is closely related to the water temperature. When the water temperature is 15-20 ℃, the breeding time of goldfish is about 5-7 days. When the water temperature is 20-25 C, the breeding time will be slightly shorter, about 3 days. Water temperature less than 15 C or more than 25 C may affect embryonic development, resulting in malformation or death of young fish. Small fish born between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius are the healthiest and less likely to mutate. Therefore, as the temperature rises, April-June is the most suitable season for goldfish breeding.
