How does the pearl horse turtle breed? How old can it breed?

1. select parent fish

Pearl horse turtles are sexually mature when they are 10 months old. Generally choose a body length of 6 cm, chest red, long pelvic fins, and robust male fish as a parent fish, female fish as long as the larger abdomen is good. The highest reproductive success rate is 2 years old fish, the length is about 7-8 centimeters, more than 10 centimeters is not easy to produce small fish.

2. Put into the fish tank

Generally, a slightly larger fish tank is used as the breeding tank, the specification is 50 * 40 * 30, and some aquatic plants should be put in the tank. Before preparing to breed the pearl horse turtle, the male and female fish should be raised separately, and after half a month, they should be put into the breeding tank according to the ratio of female to male 1:1, and after a period of time, they will begin to lay eggs and discharge sperm.

3. Water temperature and water quality

The pearl horse turtle itself is a tropical fish. The water temperature in the breeding tank should be controlled between 27-29 ℃, the pH should be about 6.8-7.2, and the water hardness should be kept at 6-10. Such an environment will make the parent fish feel comfortable, which is not only conducive to breeding, but also very helpful to the hatching of fish eggs.

4. Waiting for spawning

After the parent fish enters the breeding tank, the male fish will spit bubbles to build a nest, which usually takes 2-5 hours, and then it will start chasing the female fish and complete mating. When the spawning is over, the female fish needs to be fished out and put into other tanks to avoid being bitten by the male fish when approaching the foam nest.
