The water used for fish farming is generally connected to tap water. Some people may ask, is well water and river water not good? Compared with tap water, which contains no harmful substances except chlorine, the degree of pollution of well water and river water is unknown, so it is not suitable for fish farming. Although there are fish in the river outside, the fish living in the river are different from ornamental fish, so it is safer to use tap water, as long as it is dried for a few days, the chlorine in the water volatilizes, it can basically be used.
Acidic water or alkaline water is more suitable for fish farming, this depends on the fish, some fish like weak acid water, some are suitable for living in alkaline water, different fish have different requirements for acidity and alkalinity, but in most cases, neutral water can raise fish.
As the saying goes, if the water is too clear, there will be no fish. Raising fish is not just about fish. It contains a concentrated ecosystem. When fish swallow bait and discharge fish feces, the fish will be decomposed by microorganisms to produce harmful ammonia nitrogen. Nitrifying bacteria will convert ammonia nitrogen into nitrite, which will not affect the health of fish. At the same time, it can provide nutrients for aquatic plants. Therefore, the water for fish culture should also pay attention to the cultivation of bacteria, which refers to nitrifying bacteria. The way to cultivate bacteria is very simple, as long as the nitrifying bacteria are poured into the water, turn off the light and explode oxygen. After the nitrification system is established, the water quality will become clear.
Another point to pay attention to in fish farming is the water temperature. For cold-water fish, the adaptation range of water temperature is relatively wide, and usually there is no need to worry about their survival. But tropical fish are different. The water temperature should be kept at about 25 ℃. If the temperature is lower than 20 ℃ or higher than 30 ℃, it will cause them to get sick.
