The grass turtle usually starts to eat slowly from April to August every year. The grass turtle is a kind of poikilothermic animal, and all its physiological activities are closely related to the change of temperature. Especially its digestive function, the lower the temperature, the weaker its digestive ability, so in autumn and winter, its appetite will quickly reduce or even enter the hibernation period after no longer eat. In April of the next year, it gradually wakes up from hibernation and begins to gradually resume eating, and when it reaches the most suitable temperature of 22 to 28 degrees Celsius, that is, June to August, it eats the most. Therefore, grass turtles gradually begin to eat from April to August every year.
The grass turtle has a strong ability to survive and a relatively high adaptability. It is an omnivorous animal, and there are many kinds of food suitable for feeding. Generally speaking, you can feed some fish, shrimp and other bait, you can also feed some meat, but it should be noted that meat should not be fed fat as far as possible, otherwise digestive system diseases may occur. When the tortoise grows up, it can also choose to feed some vegetables, which can promote its growth. However, it is not recommended to feed turtles such as those on the market, which contain some hormones and are not conducive to the growth of grass turtles.
