1. Reproduction conditions: Crocodiles use the oviparous reproduction method, and the first condition they meet for reproduction is the age condition. When the body length of crocodiles reaches about 2 meters, they generally have the ability to reproduce. In addition, crocodiles do not breed at all times of the year, and they breed at fixed times.
2. Mating: After meeting the above conditions, crocodiles will breed. The first step is mating. Before males and females mate, there is usually a fight between the males. The male then woos the female, for example by shouting. The process of mating takes place in the water, and the male will actively approach the female, then wrap the female with his forelimb, and then mate with the female with his penis. This process sometimes lasts for a long time, which may take up to several hours.
3. Spawning: After mating is the process of spawning, spawning is not in the water, but on land. When female crocodiles are about to lay eggs, they are more irritable and may have conflicts with other female crocodiles because of their territory. After finding a place to lay their eggs, the female will dig a pit to lay her eggs. The number of eggs they lay is generally between 18 and 80.
4. Hatching: The eggs laid will hatch in this pit. The incubation time is usually 2-3 months. During this incubation process, the female crocodile will stay by the side until the baby crocodile hatches. When the female finds the baby's cry, she digs up the sand and helps the baby out.
As mentioned above, crocodiles breed for a certain period of time. Specifically, this breeding period is from December to March of the next year. During this period, the probability of crocodile mating activity is relatively high.
