Medaka fish are not easy to distinguish between male and female when they are relatively small, especially for newly born medaka fish. When you grow up, you can distinguish them. Generally speaking, you can distinguish them when you grow up to more than 1.5 centimeters. Specifically, it can be distinguished from the following aspects:
1. Appearance: First, it can be distinguished from appearance characteristics. The anal fin of female fish is more characteristic, with a clear arc, while the anal fin of male fish has no arc, which is easier to observe.
2. Body shape: You can also judge by observing their body shape. Males are slightly larger than females. However, in this respect, it is necessary to distinguish the same age.
3. Activity: The activity of male and female medaka is also different. If it is male, the activity will be slightly higher, and it will be very active when grabbing food.
4. During reproduction: If it is during reproduction, then observe their behavioral characteristics. If it is a male fish, it will actively occupy the space in the fish tank. If the female fish, the abdomen will have obvious expansion.
The male and female medaka can be raised together, and there will be no big problem. In fact, the character of the medaka fish itself is relatively mild, and there will be no fighting with each other. Moreover, whether male or female fish, habits and characteristics are basically the same, there will not be much difference. When mixed breeding, we need to pay attention to providing adequate food and space.
