Mandarin fish are widely distributed in the freshwater waters of our country, both in the south and in the north. In addition, Mandarin fish can also be cultured artificially. However, compared with other common freshwater fish, Mandarin fish is not particularly easy to raise. This is mainly because Mandarin fish have higher requirements for the surrounding environment, especially water quality, they can grow rapidly only in clean water. When raising Mandarin fish, the water is easy to be dirty, because their excretion is relatively large, so the water needs to be changed more frequently. Moreover, Mandarin fish eat a lot, and if they are not provided with enough food in time, they may even eat their own kind.
As mentioned above, although Mandarin fish can be raised, compared with other freshwater fish, the number of people raising Mandarin fish is still relatively small. First of all, it is because the cultivation of Mandarin fish is more difficult. In addition to water quality, Mandarin fish also have higher requirements for oxygen content in water. When putting the Mandarin fish fry into the culture pond, oxygen bags need to be used, enough oxygen bags need to be prepared first, and then these oxygen bags are put into the water, and then the Mandarin fish can be put in. Artificial oxygen supplementation may also be needed in the subsequent breeding process.
In addition to the reason that it is more difficult to raise Mandarin fish, cost is also an important factor. The cost of breeding Mandarin fish is relatively high, which makes the economic benefits relatively low, so many breeders will choose not to breed Mandarin fish. Among them, the main reason for the high cost is that Mandarin fish is a typical carnivorous animal, when raising them, it is best to feed live fish, resulting in high cost.
