It is difficult to raise a boot-footed tortoise. Although they are tortoises, they have certain requirements for humidity, which needs to be controlled above 60%. In addition, they also need to control the temperature, light, water quality and other conditions.
1. Temperature: When raising bootlegged tortoises, the temperature needs to be controlled between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, which is the most suitable temperature for their growth. In addition, we need to pay attention to the temperature can not be lower than 18 C, otherwise they may catch a cold or die. The temperature difference should not be too large throughout the day, and it should be within 4 degrees Celsius. The temperature may be controlled by a UVA lamp, a ceramic heating lamp, or the like.
2. Humidity: The bootlegged tortoise likes a humid environment, so the humidity in the air needs to be kept above 60%. If conditions permit, it can be moderately controlled between 75% and 85%. If the humidity is not enough, the humidifier can be used to increase the humidity.
3. Light: The boot-footed tortoise is afraid of light, so pay attention to avoid direct sunlight when raising.
4. Water quality: The tortoises discharge more nitrogen-containing waste, so the water they live in is relatively easy to be polluted. Therefore, it is necessary to change water every day to ensure clean and healthy water quality.
5. Feeding: The boot-footed tortoise likes to eat plant food. It can be fed with bananas, pumpkins, carrots, papayas, dandelion leaves, etc. Of course, it is also good to feed some more nutritious turtle food.
6. Water level: It is necessary to control the water level for raising tortoises. The water level needs to be controlled at 1/3 of the height of the carapace. If the water level is too high, they may choke. If the water level is too low, they may die of thirst.
