When raising turtles in winter, first pay attention to the temperature. Some tortoises are raised in greenhouses, and they should be kept above 20 degrees Celsius in winter, if they spend the winter at room temperature or hibernate, they may freeze to death directly. Even if the tortoise grows at room temperature, it is too small to survive the low temperature in winter, so we should take good measures to keep warm so as not to freeze it to death.
In winter, the turtle's appetite is not very strong, so it eats less, usually once a week to feed it. Food is generally based on its choice of food, love to eat meat to feed some fish and shrimp or animal viscera, love to eat vegetarian to feed vegetable leaves or fruits, you can also choose artificial turtle food.
Raising turtles in winter also needs to change water, but because the temperature is not high, the speed of water decay is much slower, so there is no need to change so frequently, and less feeding, less excretion, cleaning once a week can be. Of course, the water can only be used after drying, otherwise the residual chlorine will still have an impact on the health of turtles.
For turtles that can hibernate, this is not a bad way to spend the winter. Before preparing for hibernation, you need to feed more food, then stop feeding to cool down, so that it can hibernate, until the excretion is clean, you can hibernate, this time it will get into the sand, usually sprinkle water to moisturize.
