The cycle of changing water when raising turtles is generally related to the season. In summer, the temperature is relatively high, and the water quality deteriorates quickly, so you have to change it once a day. In winter, however, the temperature is relatively low, and there is little feeding and excretion, so you can change it once every three to five days. If it goes into hibernation, it can be changed once a week, but it usually stays in the sand during hibernation, so it needs to be moisturized properly.
1. Airing in advance: Tap water is used to change water for turtles. This water contains residual chlorine, which is harmful to the health of turtles, so it needs to be aired to remove chlorine. Connect good water to the sunny place, drying 1-2 days of time can be, if cloudy, can be static for a week, can also let chlorine volatilize clean.
2. How much water to change: Because turtles are usually kept in shallow water, the amount of water is not very large, and its excretion is relatively large, so it is difficult to maintain the water quality. Every time you change the water, you need to change it all. If the water depth is a little deeper, you can change half of it. In addition, when changing the water, we should clean up the excrement inside.
3. Precautions: The tortoise is sensitive to temperature changes. If the temperature difference is too large, it can easily cause it to catch a cold or pneumonia. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain a constant temperature before and after changing the water, usually above 20 ℃.
