Before the golden man arowana reproduces, the belly of the female fish will become bigger, and the male fish will begin to chase the female fish for courtship. After the two pairs are paired, the male fish will go to the surface to swallow air, which is used to build a bubble nest. This is a nest that provides protection for the eggs and plays a vital role in safe hatching.
1. The parent fish enters the tank: Usually, the golden man arowana which is 6-7 months old will be sexually mature, but when selecting the parent fish, it is generally selected to be 12-20 months old and about 10 centimeters long. The reproductive capacity of this kind of fish is stronger. The parent fish is put into a breeding tank, the specification of the fish tank is 50 * 35 * 35, filtering or oxygenation equipment is not arranged in the tank, leaf water plants or foam plates can be enlarged, and convenience is provided for nesting of the male fish.
2. Water quality and temperature: The water quality and temperature in the breeding tank must be well controlled in order for the golden dragon fish to breed safely and for the eggs to hatch safely. Usually, the temperature should be 1-2 ℃ higher than that of normal culture, and it is appropriate to keep it at 26-28 ℃, the pH should be controlled between 6-7.5, and the hardness should be 7-15.
3. Spawning and ejaculation: After the kingman arowana enters the breeding tank, it usually starts to build a nest in three days. After the nest is built, the fish will swim to the bottom and begin to lay eggs and ejaculate. After completion, the female fish needs to be fished out in time, because the male fish is very aggressive when protecting eggs, and the female fish is easy to be bitten if it is close to the eggs.
4. Preparing for feeding: After spawning, the golden dragon fish will generally hatch in 2-3 days. At this time, the larvae will also consume the yolk sac. After another day, it is necessary to start feeding the bait. Because of the small size of the larvae, the larvae of Artemia are usually chosen as feed.
