White spot disease is a common disease of tropical fish. It is caused by a parasite called Ichthyophthirius. After the disease, white spots will appear on the body surface of the fish and gradually expand. To treat this disease, we need to suspend feeding and raise the temperature of the water body to about 29 degrees Celsius, so that the parasites will soon die and the condition will slowly improve.
1. Water Change: Any disease that endangers Dutch Phoenix Fish is caused by germs or parasites. By changing water, the density of bacteria can be reduced and the water quality can be improved, which can prevent the disease from deteriorating. Different from the usual water change, water change should be more frequent after illness, usually every other day, and the amount of water should be increased appropriately.
2. Raising the temperature: After changing the water for the Dutch Phoenix Fish, it is necessary to raise the temperature properly. The high temperature can stimulate the immunity of the fish, so that it can better resist the invasion of diseases. However, warming also has a negative effect, which will accelerate the reproduction of bacteria and fungi, in order to avoid the continued invasion of bacteria into the fish, but also need to add salt to the water.
3. Adding salt: The function of adding salt is not to kill bacteria, because the salt content does not reach the concentration of killing bacteria. Its main function is to change the osmotic pressure and reduce the water exchange of fish, thereby reducing the possibility of bacterial invasion. The concentration of salt is generally between one thousandth and three thousandths, and too much will also affect the health of fish.
4. Medicated bath: The Dutch Phoenix fish is a kind of fish that is intolerant to drugs. Therefore, it is usually not necessary to take a medicated bath. If the concentration is not well controlled, the side effects may be even greater. Only when changing water, warming up and adding salt have no effect, will we consider soaking with liquid medicine.
