Turtles usually don't get pregnant until they are 7-8 years old. During pregnancy it will become anxious, but also lack of energy and appetite, there will be some white secretion, and then will find sand as its spawning ground, and burrow on it. It can also be checked manually, but it takes some experience to touch the abdomen of its hind legs and see if there is anything very hard and round, that is, its eggs.
1. Supplement nutrition: After the tortoise is pregnant, it must be supplemented with certain nutrition, so as to ensure the success of reproduction, and at the same time, it is also conducive to the hatching of young tortoises. During the period to give it a little calcium and vitamins, it should be noted that if its loss of appetite, may be to lay eggs.
2. Provide sandy soil: During the spawning period, the tortoise needs to find a piece of sandy soil to lay eggs. If there is no suitable spawning ground, it will lay its eggs in the water. Once it comes into contact with the water, the possibility of survival will be greatly reduced. So it needs to be put into the sand ahead of time, when the female will start digging holes and prepare to lay eggs.
3. Artificial incubation: If the sand can create a good growth environment, the tortoise eggs can be incubated by themselves. Otherwise, artificial incubation is needed. Prepare a hatching bed, the bottom of the 2-3 cm thick pebbles, the top of the coarse sand after 2 cm, coarse sand is fine sand, humidity between 10-15%.
