The size of the Chinese tortoise is relatively large. Under normal feeding conditions, the adult carapace can reach about 23 centimeters long, 17 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters high. It needs to be fed 1-2 times a day in the seedling stage, once a day in the juvenile stage, and 2-3 times a week in the adult stage. Its adult weight can reach 2.5-3.5 kilograms. < br/>
The Chinese turtle lays eggs in a similar way to most turtles. When it weighs more than half a kilogram, it can mate and lay eggs. Its spawning period is mostly in February to June every year, about 1-3 times a year. If artificial incubation is carried out, it will take about two months for the tortoise to break out of its shell.
The eggs of the Chinese tortoise can be artificially hatched to shorten the time of hatching. The way of artificial incubation is not difficult, first choose the red soil containing vermiculite as the incubation soil, spray some water to wet it, stir it, and spread it to the bottom of the wooden box. The eggs are then placed in the red earth in a wooden box. The eggs should be kept about 5 millimeters apart. Then, put the wooden box into the thermal insulation room, and adjust the temperature to about 30 ℃. Daily morning and evening check once, once the color of the soil becomes light, immediately spray water. In the later stage of hatching, a layer of gauze should be covered on the box to prevent the young turtles from climbing out. After about two months, the baby turtles will break out of their shells.
