The red arowana is a relatively large tropical fish. Under natural conditions, their body length can exceed 1 m. In captivity, how long they can grow depends on the size of the tank. In a large enough tank or aquarium, its body length can grow to about 80 cm. However, in a tank with a length of about 1m, it can only grow to about 60 cm, and can not grow longer.
The life span of the red arowana is very long. In the wild, if the living environment is suitable enough, they can live for about 50 years. In captivity, they live for about 20 years. If they are well raised, they can live for 40-50 years. Therefore, if we can provide a more suitable growth environment for red arowana, we can make them live longer.
1. Water temperature: If you want the red arowana to live longer, you must control the water temperature for breeding. The water temperature should be kept between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius, too high or too low is not conducive to their growth. When changing water, special attention should be paid not to make a big change in water temperature. Therefore, it is better to dry the new water before each water change, and only about one third of the water is replaced each time.
2. Water quality: Whether the water quality is qualified or not will also affect their growth status and life span. When breeding, weak acidic water with PH between 6 and 7 should be used. In order to ensure that the water quality is always clean, it is necessary to change the water every seven days or so.
