Octopus belongs to cephalopods, that is, animals with relatively developed heads and many antennae. The structure of their brain is strange, although the location of the brain is also in their head, but it is around their esophagus, because their esophagus is also in the head, which is incomprehensible to other animals and people. Although the brain and body structure of octopuses are different from those of humans and other intelligent animals, many experiments have proved that octopuses have very high intelligence.
For example, in one experiment, researchers wanted to install electrodes into the brains of octopuses to observe their brain signals, but octopuses seemed to know the purpose of the researchers, they would choose to cut off the blood supply to this brain region, and some even pulled out the electrodes themselves. In other experiments, researchers have found that octopuses use information they already know to make decisions. For example, when it comes to mating season, male octopuses disguise themselves as female octopuses in order to reduce the hostility of the same sex to them. For example, some octopuses have a strong sense of protection, and sometimes they disguise themselves as flounder to avoid the attention of some predators.
As mentioned above, octopus IQ is relatively high, and there are many specific manifestations of their high IQ. Biologists have done special studies after becoming interested in their IQ, and found that the IQ of octopuses is roughly equivalent to that of humans around 2 years old. However, not all octopus IQ is the same, some octopus IQ will be higher, its IQ can be equivalent to three or four years old human.
