Generally, a new fish tank does not need to be disinfected. Although it will float ash, it basically does not contain substances that harm the fish. If you are not at ease, you can also wipe it with strong salt water and then rinse it. If you are not at ease, you can soak it in medicine for a period of time and rinse it after draining the water.
1. Potassium permanganate: Potassium permanganate is the most common disinfectant. It was quite popular in the past, but it has basically been eliminated in recent years. The main reason is that its bactericidal ability is weak, and its demand for concentration is relatively high. Under normal circumstances, after the fish tank is filled with water, then pour potassium permanganate, the solution should be purple. Soak for 3-4 hours, after which the solution is drained and rinsed several times with water.
2. Salt: It is also possible to disinfect with salt, but generally do not use salt, it is best to use coarse salt. It usually takes a week to soak in salt water in the jar, so that some spores can be completely eliminated. Compared with potassium permanganate, it is not easy to remain, but the time is too long, many people may not be able to wait.
3. Chlorine dioxide: a new type of disinfectant, broad-spectrum and efficient. Compared with the traditional potassium permanganate, its dosage is not only less, but also more bacteria are targeted. Even if there are trace residues, the harm to fish is very small. Usage is similar to the previous, soak in the solution for a period of time, and then rinse with clean water.
