Guppies can breed small fish without isolation, but it is better for breeders to isolate them. Because guppy parent fish has no habit of protecting small fish, and when they produce, they will consume more physical strength and energy. When guppy parent fish are very hungry, they will catch small fish and eat them as food. Even unproduced guppies catch small fish for food. In addition, guppies are sensitive when they are produced, and other fish may affect their production.
2. How to isolate guppy breedingWhen guppy female fish are produced, breeders need to transfer them to a separate fish tank to make them produce with peace of mind. It is best to use the original tank water in the breeding tank, which can reduce the discomfort caused by changing the environment. Also keep the water temperature between 23-28 ℃. If conditions permit, you can use a heating rod to keep the water temperature at about 25 ℃.
In a separate breeding tank, it is best to add a layer of partition net, so that small fish will leak to the bottom of the fish tank through the partition net to avoid big fish eating small fish. You can also place some aquatic plants in the fish tank, so that small fish can fall into the aquatic plants, which can also hide their body shape and avoid being eaten by big fish. If there are no isolated nets or aquatic plants, the breeder needs to fish out the parent fish immediately after production.
