Whether the lotus lantern fish needs oxygen depends on their living environment. If the fish tank where the lotus lantern fish lives has sufficient space and clean water quality, and the breeder has installed a circulating filtration system for them, the breeder may not give them oxygen. Because the circulating filtration system can also replenish oxygen to the water, and the demand for oxygen for lotus lantern fish is not particularly large, the oxygen in the circulating filtration system is enough for them to absorb.
If the fish live in a small tank or are raised in a high density, the breeder needs to give them oxygen. Because the density is too high, the living water quality will deteriorate and the oxygen will naturally decrease, so breeders also need to install oxygen pumps to ensure that they have sufficient oxygen.
2. How to oxygenate the lotus lantern fishThe demand for oxygen for the lotus lantern fish is not very high, so it is not necessary to oxygenate them 24 hours a day. Breeders only need to give them oxygen for 2-3 hours every day to ensure that there is enough oxygen in the water. If the breeder installs a powerful circulating filtration system, the breeder may not give them oxygen.
However, when it comes to rainy days or high temperature weather, breeders need to increase the time of oxygenation. Because special weather will reduce the air pressure, the amount of dissolved oxygen in water will also decrease.
