It is possible for guppy to clip its tail, which is mostly caused by bacterial infection. If the sick fish are not isolated in time, other healthy fish may be infected. However, if it is caused by environmental changes, it will not be contagious under normal circumstances. Because environmental changes will only lead to stress reactions, not diseases. However, under the premise of uncertain etiology, it is best to fish out the guppies with clipped tails and raise them separately to avoid infecting other fish.
Can guppy clip tail be contagious, how to treat 1. Can guppy tail be infected

Whether guppy tail can be infected depends on the cause of their illness. If they are caused by bacterial infection or other diseases, the probability of infection is still relatively high. Because bacteria have strong reproduction speed and vitality, once they come into contact with healthy fish, they may be infected.

If it is caused by too much environmental change, it will not be contagious in general. Because environmental changes only stimulate them, not cause them to get sick, they will not be contagious.

When the breeder can't judge the cause of guppy tail clipping, it is better to fish out the sick guppy and breed it separately to avoid infecting other fish.

2. How to treat guppy tail clipping

1. Oxytetracycline and yellow powder medicated bath: If guppy tail clipping occurs, the breeder should first raise the water temperature to above 26 ℃, and then use oxytetracycline or yellow powder for medicated bath. High temperature can kill most bacteria, and combined with oxytetracycline or yellow powder, it can alleviate the tail clip.

2. Potassium permanganate solution: If tail clipping occurs due to bacterial infection, the breeder should first fish out the sick fish to prevent them from being transmitted to other fish. Then add potassium permanganate solution and give sick fish a medicinal bath. Take a medicated bath once a day for 10-20 minutes each time, which can relieve the tail clipping.
