It is possible that guppies are not born with big belly because their larvae are not mature yet. They are oviparous fish and take a long time from mating to production. Under normal circumstances, it takes about 28-32 days to produce. Moreover, after the second trimester of pregnancy, their stomachs will become larger, and when they are nearing childbirth, their stomachs will be 1-2 times larger than before, so it is possible that their big stomachs will not be born before the date of development.
The guppy may not be pregnant, but suffer from ascites. There are many reasons for this disease, such as poor water quality, bacterial infection, internal organs injury, etc., which will cause them to suffer from ascites. After guppies get ascites, their stomachs will obviously expand and look like they are pregnant.
2. What about guppy dystocia1. Environmental stimulation: If guppy dystocia is found, breeders can first use heating and cooling methods to stimulate their production. However, the temperature should not exceed 2 ℃, and the speed of heating and cooling should not be too fast. If this doesn't work, try changing the water and hitting their bellies with a slight flow of water, so that they can produce quickly.
2. Artificial midwifery: If external stimulation can't lead to guppy production, the breeder needs to fish out the guppy and gently squeeze their abdomen with his hand to squeeze out the young fish in the belly.
