Guppies need oxygen, because they filter oxygen in water through their gills to breathe, so they should keep enough oxygen in the water where they live. Especially the guppy just bought home, if the dissolved oxygen in the water is not sufficient, they will die of lack of oxygen. Although the demand for oxygen is not very high, when they lack oxygen, they will have floating heads, shortness of breath, belly turning and so on. If the lack of oxygen lasts too long, there will be death.
When culturing guppies artificially, it is best to install an oxygen pump in the fish tank, so as to ensure that they have sufficient oxygen.
2. Do guppies need to be heatedGuppies need to be heated, although they don't require high water temperature and have strong cold resistance. But they are tropical fish and like to grow in water temperature around 24 ℃. During artificial breeding, it is impossible to keep the water temperature in this state all the time, so it is best for breeders to install heating rods for constant temperature.
If the water temperature is lower than 15 ℃, the guppy will have decreased activity and loss of appetite. If the water temperature is lower than 10 ℃, although guppies can barely survive, their resistance and immunity will decline, and some guppies with poor constitution may die directly. Therefore, when the temperature is low, it is best for breeders to use heating rods to raise the water temperature.
