Parrots normally lay eggs once every 10 days, and an adult parrot can lay eggs 3-4 times a month. Although females can lay eggs, males can't excrete sperm, so adult parrot fish can't reproduce among their peers. If breeders want them to reproduce, they'd better choose other fish to mate with females.
2. How can parrot fish reproduce1. Prepare parent fish: As mentioned above, parrot fish belong to hybrid fish, and male fish are inborn with no ability to reproduce. Therefore, breeders need to choose mature females to cross with males of other species. Although parrot fish can cross with other fish, it can't cross with all fish. Breeders can choose red devil fish, purple red fire mouth fish, Luohan fish and so on to cross with parrot fish.
2. Prepare the breeding environment: When parrot fish breeds, it is necessary to keep the water temperature at about 25 ℃, and the water quality should be clean and refreshing, preferably weak acidic soft water.
3. Breeding: The breeder puts the parrot fish and other fish in a breeding tank, and they will pair themselves and breed. When breeding, the female fish will discharge their eggs first, and then the male fish will come forward to inseminate.
4. Hatching: After the parrot fish breeds successfully, the parent fish can be fished out. At this time, the breeder needs to raise the water temperature to 28 ℃. And a small amount of oxygen, waiting for a week or so, the fish eggs can hatch successfully.
