There are many kinds of Brazilian tortoise that can cross with Brazilian tortoise, such as Brazilian brocade tortoise, Brazilian chicken tortoise, Brazilian color tortoise, Brazilian yellow-eared tortoise, flame tortoise and doughnut tortoise. Because the genes of these turtles are similar to those of Brazilian tortoises, and their habits and living environment are the same, hybridization will not lead to rejection.
2. How do Brazilian tortoises reproduce1. Choose mature Brazilian tortoises: If you want Brazilian tortoises to reproduce, you must choose mature ones. Generally speaking, 8-9 years old Brazilian tortoises have matured. But when breeding, it is best to choose about 10 years old. Because all organs of the newly adult Brazilian tortoise are just mature, the quality and quantity of reproduction are unstable.
2. Mating: Brazilian tortoises will pair themselves. After successful mating, they will mate in water or land. When mating, the male turtle climbs on the back of the female turtle.
3. Laying eggs: Brazilian tortoises begin to lay eggs about one month after successful mating, and they need to lay eggs in soft sand or land. Before laying eggs, a pit will be dug out first, and then the eggs will be laid in the pit and then covered with soil, and flattened with abdominal armour before leaving. Brazilian tortoises don't have the habit of keeping holes, so breeders need to take out their eggs and hatch them artificially.
4. Hatching: After the Brazilian tortoise lays eggs, the breeder needs to take out their eggs and put them in the incubator to hatch. The temperature in the incubator should be kept at 28-30 ℃ and the humidity should be kept between 85% and 90%. Under normal circumstances, Brazilian tortoises can hatch successfully in about 2 months.
