Yellow-eared turtle is a deep-water turtle and can be raised in deep water. But at an early age, it can't be raised in deep water. Because they are just born, their physical strength and swimming ability are not strong, and their adaptability to the environment is not good, it is best for breeders to put them in shallow water for breeding.
When they are adults, they can live in deep water. Because they are deep-water turtles, they can live in deeper water. Moreover, when they become adults, their body size and water quality will become stronger, so when they become adults, they can raise yellow-eared turtles in deep water.
2. How high is the water level suitable for yellow-eared turtlesThe water level adapted by yellow-eared turtles at different stages is different. The water level of yellow-eared turtles in infancy needs to be shallower, and it is best to control the height below the carapace, so that they can breathe fresh air when they look up or stand on tiptoe.
When they grow bigger, they can raise the height of water level slightly, preferably 1-2 cm higher than the carapace. Because of their carapace, they need to develop better in deep water.
When they are mature, they can be raised in deep water. The height of the water level can be controlled between 1.5-2 times the height of the carapace. Although they are deep-water turtles, their water quality is not as good as that of pure-water turtles, and the water level should not be too high to avoid choking and drowning.
