The adult time of artificially raised grass turtles will be earlier, and it will take about 4-5 years to mature. But if you want to breed, you'd better wait about 7 years. Because of their slow growth and development, their organs have just matured in about 5 years. If they reproduce in the same year, it will not only have a great impact on their health, but also reduce the quantity and quality of reproduction, so it is best for breeders to wait for another 2 years to reproduce.
Grass turtles generally begin to breed from April to August, and the peak period of their reproduction is from May to July. Compared with other turtles, the number of grass turtles breeding is still relatively large. Female grass turtles can lay 3-4 eggs a year after adulthood, and the number of eggs laid each time is 5-8.
2. How do eggs laid by grass turtles hatch1. Prepare incubators: After grass turtles lay eggs, breeders need to prepare an incubator for them. A layer of foam board needs to be laid in the incubator first, and several holes should be pierced in the foam board. Spread a few layers of sand, and finally put the eggs on it.
2. Adjust the incubation environment: After the eggs are put into the incubator, the breeder needs to adjust the incubation environment. The temperature in the incubator needs to be kept at about 25 ℃, and the humidity needs to be kept between 81% and 85%.
3. Regular inspection: Breeders need to spray water on sand regularly to ensure a moist environment. Also regularly illuminate the eggs of grass turtles with flashlights to avoid spoilage.
