Chinese grass turtles are not deep-water turtles. Although they are highly aquatic turtles, their water quality, physical strength and swimming ability are not very strong, so they cannot move in deep water. If grass turtles are placed directly in deep water, their health and life may be affected. To raise Chinese grass turtles artificially, it is necessary to determine the height of water level according to their habits. If there is enough space in the container, it is best to prepare an amphibious environment for them, so that their range of activities will have more space.
Second, the water depth of Chinese grass turtles is appropriateThe water level of Chinese grass turtles needs to be determined according to their body shape, and the water level of young grass turtles needs to be lower, probably below the carapace. Because they are relatively small in size and have poor adaptability to the environment in childhood, if they are farmed directly in deep water, they can't float to the water surface quickly to breathe, which may lead to choking and drowning.
As they grow in size, so can the height of the water level. The breeder can keep the water level about 2 cm above the carapace. When they are adults, the water level can deepen a little, but it can't be too deep. The height of the water level can be controlled at 1-2 times of the height of the back armor. If a gentle slope or balcony is built, the water level can be appropriately raised, but the maximum should not exceed 2 times.
