It is best not to raise Chinese grass turtles dry, because they are aquatic turtles. Although they can move on land at ordinary times, their feeding and mating are all carried out in water. Moreover, most turtles live in water, and if they are raised dry, they may dehydrate and die. In addition, dry culture is not conducive to the development of their carapace, which may lead to deformation or dislocation. Artificial bone breeding grass turtles can build a balcony for them, so that they can choose to go ashore or in the water, and they can freely choose the time to bask in the sun.
2. The water level of Chinese grass turtles is appropriateThe water level of Chinese grass turtles needs to be determined according to their body shape. Generally speaking, the water level in infancy can be controlled below the carapace. Because they are not only weak in physical strength, but also weak in swimming ability in childhood, if they are raised directly in deep water, they may choke or drown.
As they grow in size, the height of water level can also increase. During their growth and development, the height of water level can be consistent with the height of carapace, or it can be 2-3 cm higher than carapace. When the turtle is an adult, the height of the water level can be raised again, and it is best to control it at 1-2 times the height of the carapace. Because their water quality is better than that of other semi-water turtles, the water level of breeding can be relatively high.
