The weight of grass turtles of different genders is also different in adulthood. When adult turtles are raised in the same environment, the weight of female turtles will be relatively heavier. Generally, the weight of female turtles in adulthood is about 1500 grams, while the weight of male turtles is generally about 1000 grams. Male turtles and female turtles are different not only in weight, but also in body length. Adult female turtles are about 20 cm long, and the maximum length can be 28 cm. However, the male turtle is only about 15 cm long in adulthood, and the largest one can only grow to 20 cm. However, the size of grass turtles has a great relationship with the way they are raised. If they are properly raised, the size of male turtles can grow to about 20 cm. If the feeding environment is poor, even female turtles will not be too big.
2. How old can grass turtles reproduceArtificial grass turtles generally mature in about 5 years. If breeders want them to reproduce, it is best to wait another year. Because they are just mature and their organs are unstable, if they reproduce immediately, they may affect the quality and quantity of reproduction.
Grass turtles usually start breeding from April to August every year. When breeding, they will pair themselves, and after successful pairing, they will mate in water. Some time after mating, the mother turtle will lay eggs. Breeders need to put the eggs laid by grass turtles into a special incubator to hatch, and wait about 50-80 days to hatch small turtles.
