Small grass turtles cannot be raised in deep water. Because grass turtles are not deep-water turtles, they don't like to move in deep water. Moreover, they were born for a short time, and their physical strength and swimming ability have not yet developed well. If they are raised in deep water rashly, they may choke or drown. It is best to control the water level of grass turtles below their carapace, so as to ensure that their living environment is moist without affecting their normal breathing.
Adult grass turtles can't be raised in too deep water, because their water quality and swimming ability are not good, so the height of water level can be controlled at about 20-30 cm. If a balcony or gentle slope is built, the water level can be deepened relatively, but the maximum should not exceed 40 cm.
2. Can small grass turtles be raised in cold waterSmall grass turtles can't be raised in cold water because they are just born and have poor adaptability to the environment. If they are raised in cold water, they may have colds or other discomfort. Moreover, low water temperature will affect their appetite and activity, and long-term low temperature will also affect their growth and development speed.
The grass turtle is just born, so it is best for the breeder to keep the water temperature at about 25 ℃. If conditions permit, a heating rod can be installed to keep the water temperature at 25 ℃.
