Crocodile turtles are not cold water turtles, although they can adapt to a wide range of temperatures and their temperature requirements are not particularly high. But their origin is North America, the southern United States and Central America, which are temperate or subtropical regions, so they are not cold water turtles. Although crocodile turtles can survive at a water temperature between 3-45 ℃, when the water temperature is lower than 18 ℃, they will stop eating, so it is necessary to keep the water temperature above 18 ℃ in the process of breeding.

As mentioned above, crocodile turtles have strong adaptability and can live at a water temperature between 3-45 ℃. But the most suitable water temperature for their growth and development is between 20-33 ℃. If you want to accelerate their growth, you can keep the water temperature between 25-28 ℃. Because in this temperature range, their appetite and activity are the highest.

Although crocodile turtles can survive at lower temperatures, when the water temperature is lower than 18 ℃, they will stop moving and eating. When the water temperature is lower than 15 ℃, they will go into hibernation directly. When the water temperature is lower than 10 ℃, they will go into deep hibernation. When cultured artificially, the water temperature should not be lower than 5 ℃, otherwise they will get sick or freeze to death directly.
