Pearl turtles die when they are dry reared, because they are water turtles and have strong water quality and swimming ability. Wild pearl turtles live in streams, lakes, swamps and other waters. Although they can move on land for a short time and tolerate drought, they cannot leave the water for a long time, otherwise they will be at risk of dehydration and death. In addition, dry cultivation will also make their carapace deformed and whitened. If breeders want to raise them dry, they can put them in water during the day and fish them out for dry raising at night, which can not only satisfy their deep water habits, but also raise them dry, so that they have enough space for activities.
2. How to raise pearl turtles properly1. Space: The pearl turtles are too large, and the length of adult carapace is about 20 cm or more. Breeders need to prepare an environment 2-3 times larger than their body size to meet the space they need.
2. Water temperature and water quality: Pearl turtles do not require high water temperature. As long as the water temperature is kept above 25 ℃, they can survive well. They can tolerate high temperature, but they can't accept too low temperature. If the water temperature is lower than 20 ℃, they will stop eating.
3. Feeding: Flower turtles like to eat some live bait, and breeders can feed them more small fish, shrimp, red worms, loach, lean meat and other foods, so as to ensure adequate nutrition for their growth and development. In addition, you can also feed some plant-based feeds, which can keep their nutrition balanced.
