When small snapping turtles live in the wild, they are all in streams, lakes, swamps and rivers. When raising crocodile turtles artificially, they can choose river water close to the natural environment, because they live in river water. Breeders can better simulate the natural environment and adapt more easily. But now most of the river is more or less polluted, and breeders need to treat it before they can use it. In addition, lake water is also suitable, but it should be treated before use just like river water.
Tap water can also be used if the breeder has no access to river or lake water. Because the requirements of small snapping turtles on water quality are not very high, as long as they are exposed to tap water for 2-3 days, their health will not be affected.
2. How high is the water level suitable for the crocodile turtleThe water level suitable for different stages of the crocodile turtle is also different. The water level of the young crocodile turtle should not be too deep. Because their swimming ability and physical strength are poor, and their adaptability to the environment is poor, if the water level is too deep, it will affect their normal breathing. When they reach adulthood, their height can be raised, and the water level can be controlled at 2-3 times of the height of their carapace, preferably not more than 3 times, otherwise there will be the risk of choking or drowning.
