Even slower-growing flame turtles start to develop color when they reach 10 cm in size. If they have been raised for a long time and have no hair color, it may be because they have no hair color gene, so even when they are adults, they will not change their color. Breeders can usually feed them more foods rich in astaxanthin and bask in the sun, which can also promote their hair color.
