Musk turtles can be cold-resistant. Their origin is high latitude areas such as Canada in North America and northern United States, so their cold resistance is relatively good. In artificial breeding, cold water can be used for breeding, but low temperature will affect their growth and development, and also reduce their immunity and resistance. And although they can live in cold water, when the water temperature is lower than 10 ℃, they will go into hibernation. Therefore, when breeders use cold water to breed, they need to keep the water temperature above 20 ℃ to ensure that they can move normally.
2. How much is the water temperature suitable for musk turtlesMusk turtles can adapt to a wide range of water temperatures. To be precise, when the water temperature is kept between 15-29 ℃, they can move normally. However, low temperature will reduce their activity and appetite, so it is best for breeders to keep the water temperature between 25-29 ℃. In this temperature range, their appetite and activity are the highest, and their growth and development speed is also the best.
When the temperature is below 10 ℃, musk turtles will go into hibernation. After the musk turtle goes into hibernation, the breeder does not need to keep the water temperature too high, only needs to keep the water temperature at about 5 ℃. If conditions permit, they can be transferred indoors, so that they do not need to be deliberately heated.
