The flame turtle needs to mature before it can reproduce and lay eggs after reproduction. They take longer to mature, and it takes about 7-9 years. If it is a captive flame turtle, it takes 7-8 years to mature. Because the environment of captive flame turtles is comfortable and there is plenty of food, they can develop well, so the time needed will be shorter. If it is a wild flame turtle, it will mature later, which takes about 8-9 years.
Flame tortoises usually start breeding in May every year, because during this time, the temperature and environment are more suitable. After mating in May, flame turtles will lay eggs from June to September. They lay eggs four times a year, each time they will lay 5-10 eggs.
2. How to hatch the eggs of the flame turtleAfter the flame turtle lays eggs, the breeder needs to collect the eggs first, and then carefully distinguish whether there are sperm spots on the eggs. If there are, they can be directly put into the incubator. If not, it can be left in the natural environment for a few days. The temperature in the incubator should be controlled between 25-32 ℃, the humidity should be controlled between 80%-90%, and water should be sprinkled three times a day. Hold on for 60-80 hours, and the eggs will hatch. Hatched flame turtles are relatively fragile, so breeders should pay attention to the way of feeding them. In addition, the environment for feeding them should not fluctuate too much.
