Because they have poor adaptability to the environment in their infancy, and their swimming ability and physical strength are poor, if they are put into deep water to live, they are likely to drown. Therefore, the water level of the young crocodile turtle can be controlled at 2-3 cm of the height of the carapace.

When crocodile turtles are adults, the height of water level can be raised, which can not only better develop their carapace, but also ensure that they have enough room for movement. The breeder can control the water level to 2-3 times the height of the carapace. If sunken wood is placed in the container or a balcony is built, the breeder can deepen the water level as appropriate.

Crocodile turtles are tropical turtles and like higher water temperature. Although they have strong adaptability, too low water temperature will also affect their appetite and activity. Over time, resistance and immunity will decline, and there is a risk of illness or death. Breeders should still keep the water temperature between 22-31 ℃. If conditions permit, you can install heating rods to keep the water temperature between 28-31 ℃, so that they will live more comfortably. Crocodile turtles can hibernate or not. If breeders want them to grow faster, they can keep the water temperature above 20 ℃ all the time, so that they can survive the winter normally.
