The tortoise can't leave the water under normal circumstances. Although they are not highly aquatic tortoises, they can't be short of water for a long time in their normal life, otherwise their lives will be in danger. Of course, when the tortoise is sick or has other special circumstances, it can be raised without water, but it is necessary to ensure that the surrounding environment is humid so that they will not be greatly affected.
2. How to raise the tortoise1. Water temperature: The tortoise likes a higher water temperature, and the breeder can keep the water temperature between 28-30 ℃. In autumn and winter, the heating rod can be turned on to ensure constant water temperature.
2. Water quality: Australian tortoises have strict requirements on water quality. If the water quality is not good, they are prone to rot. During farming, breeders need to expose tap water to the sun for 2-3 days before using it, and change water regularly to ensure clean water quality. It is better to install a circulating filtration system to slow down the deterioration of water quality.
3. Feeding: The requirements for food are not high, and breeders only need meat and vegetables to feed them. The animal feed suitable for round Australian turtles is beef, chicken, animal viscera, red worms, small fish, shrimp and so on. Plant feeds suitable for them include lettuce, cucumber, pumpkin, lettuce and so on. Juvenile tortoises can be fed once a day, and when they are adults, they can be fed once every 2-3 days.
4. Space: Although the tortoise is small in size, it is best for the breeder to prepare a larger container for them to ensure that they have enough space. You can also build a balcony in the container and plant some plants to better restore the wild environment.
