4-5 cm can't be raised in deep water. Although grass turtles can accept deep water environment, they are quite different from pure water turtles. The breathing, reproduction and foraging of pure water turtles are all completed in water, and the breathing and reproduction of grass turtles need to leave water. Grass turtles have poor physical strength. If the water level is too deep, it is difficult for them to float to the water surface to breathe, so it is best not to raise them in deep water. If breeders want to raise in deep water, they can build a gentle slope or balcony in the tank, so that grass turtles can have a place to stay in shallow water and breathe more conveniently.

4-5 cm grass turtles are not suitable for deep water breeding, and breeders can decide the water level according to their body shape. Generally speaking, the height of water level can be controlled above abdominal armor, so as to avoid choking water. You can also deepen the water level and control the height above the carapace, but the height should not exceed the carapace too much.

In addition, the breeder can set up a balcony in the container, so that the turtle can rest and bask in the sun. This can not only reduce choking, but also sterilize and avoid bacterial infection.
