The Chinese tortoise is a kind of terrapin. It is very good at swimming and likes water very much. Growing in the natural environment, Chinese turtles like to live in low-altitude waters, such as reservoirs, mountain streams, marshes and so on. The tortoise is drought-tolerant and can survive even in a waterless environment. This kind of turtle also likes to bask in the sun, so when breeding, it is better to provide them with a drying platform to dry their backs, a deep water area and a shallow water area. It is better to place some rocks or pebbles at the bottom of the breeding tank, so that they can go ashore at any time.
Because they are terrapins, breeding them in deep water is closer to their natural life. However, it should be noted that when curing in deep water, shallow water areas and drying platforms should be set up. Normally, the water level in the breeding tank is higher than the turtle shell, which is about 40 centimeters deep. If the water level is too high, they may suffocate to death.
Chinese tortoise can be raised with tap water after being exposed to the sun for three days and standing, and can also be raised with green water. Chinese tortoises like warmth and are afraid of cold. They have strong adaptability. However, because they are poikilothermic animals, when the temperature of the surrounding environment changes, their physiological functions will be affected. Therefore, when raising them, attention should be paid to keeping the temperature constant and avoiding sudden changes in temperature. This kind of turtle has a high demand for water quality. After feeding, we should pay attention to cleaning up food residues and excrement in time to keep the water clean.
