1. Enteritis or pneumonia

1. Cause: Snapping turtles are likely to suffer from gastroenteritis or pneumonia if they do not eat. Gastroenteritis is mainly caused by too much food or unclean food. Pneumonia is mainly caused by colds or too large temperature difference. The early symptoms of both diseases are reduced food intake or cessation of food intake, which can be judged by breeders on the basis of other symptoms.

2. Solution: If they don't eat because of gastroenteritis, the breeder needs to feed them some norfloxacin or gentamicin. If they can't be fed, they can inject gentamicin intramuscularly. If it is due to pneumonia, the breeder needs to raise the water temperature to 28 C and then feed some amoxicillin or other anti-inflammatory drugs.

Two, the water temperature is too low

1, the reason: snapping turtles like a little higher water temperature, if the water temperature is low at ordinary times, they will also appear loss of appetite.

2. Solution: The breeder can slowly raise the water temperature to above 20 ℃, preferably between 28-31 ℃. At this temperature, their appetite is the best.

3. The water quality is too poor

. 1. Reason: If the breeder does not change the water for a long time or the water quality deteriorates seriously, the crocodile turtle will also reduce its food intake or stop eating.

2. Solution: Snapping turtles do not have too high requirements for water quality, as long as they are clean and refreshing. The breeder can change the water 2-3 times a week, and half of the water can be changed each time. If conditions permit, a circulating filtration system can be installed to slow down the deterioration of water quality.
