Both the striped mud turtle and the red-faced egg turtle belong to the egg turtle. Their appearance has certain similarities, so many breeders will find it difficult to distinguish them. However, they are still different, mainly reflected in the following three aspects:
1. Body size difference: The body size of the striped mud turtle and the red-faced egg turtle will have certain differences, and the body size of the striped mud turtle will be smaller. When they grow up, the size of the female tortoise will be about 12 centimeters, and the male tortoise will be slightly smaller, about 10.5 centimeters. The red-faced egg turtle will be slightly larger than that, and some red-faced egg turtles can reach 17.5 centimeters in length.
2. Appearance difference: Although the appearance of the striped mud turtle and the red-faced egg turtle is similar in some places, there are also obvious distinctive features. You can see the pattern on their back shell, the pattern on the back shell of the red-faced egg turtle is red, while the striped mud turtle does not have this red pattern. In addition, you can also see their heads, sometimes red-faced egg turtles even the head is red, very conspicuous.
3. Difference of rare degree: The rare degree of the striped mud turtle and the red-faced egg turtle is also different. The red-faced egg turtle belongs to a kind of precious ornamental turtle species, and the price is relatively expensive.
The striped mud turtle and the red-faced egg turtle can be raised together. Because their size is relatively not particularly large, so mixed breeding will not take up too much space, but it is not appropriate to raise too much, two or three can be. In the process of polyculture, feeding is also a problem that needs special attention, so that they can not compete for food and conflict, they need to be reasonably allocated food.
