1. Feeding: When the temperature is very low, the metabolism of Koi will slow down, and their digestive system will slow down or even stop. If they continue to feed too much at this time, the food will remain in their digestive system and will not be digested. When the temperature is below 15 degrees, it is better to reduce the amount of feeding. When the temperature is between 12 and 13 degrees, you can stop feeding at intervals.
2. Change the water: In winter when the temperature is low, do not change the water so frequently. If the water is not dirty, do not change the water. In order to keep the water filter open.
3. Temperature difference: In winter, the temperature difference between day and night is large, which can easily lead to the death of koi. Open-air fish ponds and outdoor fish tanks need to do a good job of shelter and heat preservation. The fish tank can be directly wrapped with a plastic plate.
If the surface of the water in the outdoor fish pond is frozen in winter, don't worry too much. Because the temperature in the depths will be higher. Just poke a few holes in the ice to allow the koi to breathe. In very northerly areas, the temperature in winter is more than ten degrees below zero or even tens of degrees, so don't breed outdoors at this time.
